Global Time Attack Joins 2027 Thunderhill Open

Time attack pioneers bring their event each day to grassroots motorsports festival’s second annual event

WILLOWS, Calif. — August 18, 2026 — Thunderhill Open, the grassroots motorsports festival returning to Thunderhill Raceway Park March 5–7, 2027, today announced that Global Time Attack will join the event as an official race class. The addition gives GTA competitors three hours of dedicated track time on both Saturday and Sunday, adding a new discipline to a weekend that already blends road racing, drifting, and open paddock culture.

Global Time Attack, founded and led by Jason Dienhart, is one of the country’s premier time attack series, known for its Super Lap Battle events and a community built around pushing cars — and drivers — to their limit on the clock. Bringing GTA into the Thunderhill Open puts that competition directly alongside the festival’s existing lineup, expanding what’s on track and who shows up to see it.

“Thunderhill has always been a track that pushes drivers to their best times, so this partnership just makes sense,” said Matt Busby, President & CEO of Thunderhill Raceway Park.

“Bringing Global Time Attack into the Open gives our community another reason to be here, and gives GTA competitors a stage that matches the intensity of what they do.”

“Thunderhill Open is exactly the kind of event we want Global Time Attack to be part of,” said Jason Dienhart, Director of Global Time Attack. “It puts our class in front of a whole new crowd and gives our competitors a great stage to go chase fast times on. We’re excited to bring GTA into the paddock.”

“We’ve been wanting to add time attack for a while now, and we’re stoked to finally make ithappen,” said Ted Livingston, Two & Four, organizer of Thunderhill Open.

“Thunderhill Open is all about community — bringing a bunch of different racing disciplines and classes together for one rad weekend. This is exactly that.” The 2027 Thunderhill Open takes place March 5–7 at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, California. The three-day weekend features road racing, drifting, a vendor village, and open paddock access, with general admission tickets available for a single day or the full weekend. Additional class details, entry information, and registration for the Global Time Attack class will be announced in the coming weeks.
