This video is a true testament to the spirit of Daniel O’Donnell, Michael, Lewin, Grant and the rest of the Professional Awesome crew. Their car is beyond legal for our Street GT AWD class with no envelope pushing modifications. The guys work 9-5 jobs, have no paying sponsors (other than some help with parts and tuning), built the car in their garage and transport it to the track on an open trailer towed by a suspicious-looking 15-passenger van (the kind you wouldn’t want to see parked in front of your local elementary school).

And yet Daniel O’Donnell and his Professional Awesome Mitsubishi Evo 7 rocked our GTA New Jersey standings harder than the number Standard & Poor’s did on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Not only was the team’s 1:11.611 good for the Street GT AWD class win, but they also reset the the class record by more than one second and crushed their next closest competitor by almost three ticks. Not to mention their best time was fifth fastest of the weekend in a 20-plus car field stacked full of the usual Unlimited GT class suspects.

Not bad for a couple of part timers who just graduated from college. Street Class GT teams take note, you don’t need money or a cheater car to win, you just need the same sort of passion and persistence shown by these Awesome Professionals. Oh yeah, you’ll need to do one more thing to win. Beat these guys. And before you ask they will be competing at Autobahn. Nobody said this time attack shit is easy.
