GTA Bounties in addition to class payouts
Fastest Overall Time $1,000 – Jeff Westphal – GST Motorsports Subaru Impreza – 1:19.397
Back It Up Award $500 – Consistency is key. Bounty award for the GTA car that records the fastest time on the first day of a GTA event and is able to “back up the time” on the second day (much like drag racing). Times must be recorded during one of the sanctioned GTA sessions and on separate days. – Chris Rado – Need For Speed WORLD Racing Scion tC – Sun: 1:22.312; Sat: 1:24.823
Best of The Rest $500 – Spreading the wealth. This is Bounty that will be awarded at GTA’s discretion. Perhaps it will be for the fastest time in the final session of the event weekend or for a track record that was broken by a large margin. This team was still working on their car on Saturday and Sunday was the car’s first time on the track and that’s all the team needed to take the Unlimited GT RWD class win. – Casey Dennis – GMR Racing Honda S2000 – 1:30.383
Wild Card(s) $1,000 (Can be split into smaller amounts totaling 1,000) – In no particular category other than random. This could be one Bounty for a $1,000 or maybe ten $100 Bounties. We might award these to the winner of a particularly fierce battle between a certain pair of Street GT class BMWs or maybe for the fastest car on DOT tires. Fastest FWD Honda? That might also be option. We’re not sure. The only thing we do know is that we have $1,000 in Wild Card bounties and we need a way to award them. At WSIR we made these record bounties since four records were reset during the Global Time Attack. We also created a special BMW Battle Bounty for the fastest time between the 135i’s of Berk Technology and Evolution Racewerks.

Mooby Award $250 – To the team with the biggest boner, er who muffs it up the most. Let’s just call it a booby prize. Or better yet, our Mooby Award. Did your driver miss a session? Now you can buy him a watch. Maybe a crewmember fell asleep in your trailer. Now you can buy him or her some energy drinks. And if Loi Song insists on wearing that femmy sunbonnet maybe the SportCar Motion crew can buy him a proper hat. At WSIR we gave this to the driver who went off in a big fashion around Turn 9 prompting him to put his car on the trailer early Sunday. – Renzo Marsano – White Donkey/MAR Financial/Sportcar Motion Honda Civic

Overall Standings with individual session times (every session counts):
Four individual time attack track records were broken at the Global Time Attack:
Unlimited GT AWD – Jeff Westphal – GST Motorsports Impreza – 1:19.397
Unlimited GT FF – Chris Rado – Need For Speed WORLD Racing Scion tC – 1:22.312
Limited GT AWD – JC Meynet – OMG Racing Subaru STI – 1:23.141
Street GT RWD – Mike Bonanni – Berk Technology BMW 135i – 1:29.041
Jeff Westphal’s time was a mere .842 seconds off of the 1:18.555 overall time attack track record held by Billy Johnson in the Unlimited GT RWD FXMD NSX. It is also important to note that the NSX was on Yokohama slicks went it set the record while Jeff’s GST Motorsports Impreza is fitted with Hankook Ventus DOT tires.
GST Motorsports team principle has datalogged video showing the front straight trap speed of the car’s 1:19.397 to be 5 mph slower than an earlier 1:19.915 lap (161 mph vs 166).
The event marked the international debut of the latest version of the GST Motorsports Impreza, which has seen extensive changes in the off-season including a chopped top and revised transmission tunnel among other weight-saving changes.
JC Meynet was pushing to improve upon his record-setting 1:23.141 run during Sunday’s first session but a mechanical failure ended his flier prematurely. The culprit is possibly a damaged head gasket or perhaps a bottom end failure. JC’s record time was set on Toyo Proxes R-888 tires.
Chris Rado’s 1:22.312 record time was set with a damaged head gasket. The car has gone as fast as 1:21.9 at Willow Springs during a NASA event but not at an organized time attack event. Rado’s WORLD Racing team took sent out their infamous Unlimited GT 1,500hp AWD tC during a NASA session but electrical gremlins prevented the team from recording a lap time. In the FWD tC Rado also won his time trial class as well.
LIC Motorsports brought its Limited GT AWD Subaru STI out of retirement to attend the Global Time Attack with a new driver, time attack veteran, Dr. Russell Warr taking Second place with a 1:25.423. The team also ran a set of Hankook Z214 C91 tires in a NASA TTR class and took First place with a lap time of 1:23.136.
Anthony Szirka and his team from UMS Tuning and the UMS Tuning Time Attack series served as our official GTA tech stewards for the weekend. Szirka also finished in Second place in Unlimited GT AWD with a time of 1:28.046
The differential in time between the 135i BMW’s of Berk Technology and Evolution Racewerks was 0.168 second! This was the closest battle of the weekend.
Jeremy Renshaw and the AFI Turbo crew converted the team’s AFI Turbo Limited GT RWD class S2000 to an Unlimited GT class entry in the span of only one and a half weeks. A lost shift linkage nut prevented the team from laying down a fast lap leaving a lot of potential on the table for this car.
Clint Boisdeau drove both the Apollo Performance Street GT AWD WRX and the Street GT FF Focus to wins in both classes.
Dennis Holloway from Mothers Polish drove his NASA TT-spec RX-8 to a 1:33.023 lap in just one GTA session. A very fast lap considering the Renesis powerplant is basically stock.
Dave Lemon unveiled his radically altered RX-8 with a 12-port Renesis that will eventually put out 400-plus horsepower. The car also received an AIT Racing widebody kit and new Goodyear tires as the tire giant is looking into competing in the Global Time Attack.
